Over 2,900 people travelled to the race course from Hastings/Gensing stations. The News said: “We were unpleasantly reminded by an influx of not very desirable nor quiet visitors” and described them as a “motley crowd”. The fete on 21st and 22nd was very popular, with a reputed 8,000 people present on the 22nd. Attractions included dancing on the lawn, juggling, acrobats, Aunt Sally and the Sextillian.
