Cliff Man Dies

Death of 'Old Tom Collins' who lived with his wife under the cliff near the Pett Level Coastguard Station.
Sale of land at Elphinstone Road which had been purchased by the Board of Guardians for a new workhouse but was not used. The News of 13 April said the sale was completed for £5,200.
A lecture on Women's Suffrage was given by Mrs Fawcett at the Public Hall in Robertson Street on 26 January.

Lord Brassey was granted the freedom of the borough of Hastings on 15 October. On 26 September a testimonial from the people of the town was presented to him at his large residence Normanhurst.
