The Hastings Post Office in George Street was relocated in Wellington Place, part of the move of the heart of Hastings from the Old Town to the Priory Valley.

New Telegraph Service 05/02/1870

At 8am the Head Post Offices at Hastings and St Leonards commenced transmitting telegraphic messages, in common with some 800 other offices. There was a uniform shilling rate for 20 words.
